Miss Shawnda Swenson is returning to Dance Aberdeen this year, after a successful first season with our club! She graduated from the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, where she attended intensive training in all areas of the performing arts. Dance has been a passion of hers since she can remember and she is so happy to get to share it with youth. At college, she got the role of the Millworker in the musical Working, got an award for her original music and was in a New Works Festival with 2 choreography pieces performed. Miss Shawnda is so excited to get to put her training to use at Dance Aberdeen and she can't wait to see what happens this year!
Miss Tara Schwartzenberger is new to Dance Aberdeen this 2019/2020. Miss Tara started dancing at the age of 4 at Pure Energy Dance Company in Saskatoon and was a competitive dancer until she was 19. Her training includes Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Musical Theater, Song and Dance, and Point. Over my years as a student, she was privileged enough to learn from many different and incredibly talented choreographers from all over Canada and train in different studios. Within her training, she has also received several
ADAPT and RAD examinations and will be completing her Acrobatique AcroDance Teacher’s certification in the Acrobatic Arts this summer. She has been dancing as long as she can remember and loves that she gets to share her joy for it with others. She was lucky enough to be a teacher’s assistant from a young age and signed her first official teaching contract in 2011 at the age of 16. This year will be her 9th year as a dance instructor and is excited to share this upcoming season with you all. Over many years of dance training, she was lucky enough to win numerous awards. Now as a teacher, she is humbled to still be winning awards, but this time, not for her dancing but instead for her choreography. As a teacher, she continues to train to make sure she is giving her students the best possible education and experience.
"Not many can say they have turned their passion into a career, but lucky enough for me, I can. I look forward to meeting and working with you all."
